Margaret Allen House, a residential care home for older people in the town of Tiverton, Devon, has been sold on behalf of Guinness Care to Easy Living Limited, a local care provider.
Occupying a period property, which has been extended over the years to accommodate residents, the care home provides 15 en-suite bedrooms across the ground and first floors, accessible via a passenger lift, ground floor day rooms and an enclosed patioed garden.
Conveniently situated in the town of Tiverton, Margaret Allen House is well connected to nearby Exeter and the surrounding towns and cities via the A361, which connects with the M5. Tiverton itself provides a comfortable community for residents, with scenic rural surroundings along the River Exe.
Previous owner, Guinness Care sold Margaret Allen House as part of a strategic view to move into developing more specialised extra care housing and care at home services and to move away from the residential care homes sector.
A spokesperson for Guinness Care comments, “Margaret Allen House has provided a happy home over many years and we are delighted that the new owners will be carrying this on in future. Proceeds from the sale will be reinvested in more services for older people in the area.”
Easy Living Limited, the new owner of Margaret Allen House, is run by sisters Sarah and Rachel Mercy, who operate a domiciliary care agency from Tiverton and Barnhaven Care Home in Bampton.
Simon Harvey, director of Christie & Co’s Exeter office, which handled the sale, comments, “I am pleased to have worked with Guinness Care to help them with the sale of Margaret Allen House in moving forward with the company’s aims, and also with Easy Living Limited in their expansion plans.
“Care homes are valuable assets to operators and in their local communities and it has been a pleasure to facilitate the smooth transaction of the business to ensure the quality and continuity of care for its residents.”
