Scarborough care provider Saint Cecilia’s is celebrating after picking up a cluster of accolades at this year’s Stars Awards.
The awards, backed by Jobmatch, recognise Scarborough apprentices and businesses who encourage staff development. This year’s fourth event was held at Scarborough Spa.
Saint Cecilia’s won Best Medium Business and Clare Greenwood from Saint Cecilia’s Care Home won the Health and Social Care award.
Sarah Earp and Danielle Young from Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home were runners-up in the Hospitality and Catering and Health and Social Care awards respectively.
Saint Cecilia’s managing director Mike Padgham says: “We are absolutely delighted not only to win the Best Medium Business but for our staff to be recognised in this way.
“We place a high priority on the training and development of our staff and it is heartening to see them succeeding.
“The Stars awards are an excellent idea, giving young people the opportunity to be recognised and applauded for their hard work – we hope the awards go from strength to strength!”
The Stars Awards ceremony - Scarborough's Talented Apprentices Recognised Success - was set up in 2015 to celebrate the success of apprentices in the Borough of Scarborough. This year's ceremony was the fourth annual Stars awards for the borough and it has grown in strength from the previous years, with a record number of nominations.
Stars is paid for by generous sponsorship from local businesses and training providers.
As well as having apprenticeship categories they also have categories for businesses who encourage the apprenticeship scheme and the development of their employees.
