CQC rates Suffolk home 'outstanding'

The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Montana Residential Home in Great Barton, Bury-St-Edmunds to be 'outstanding' following an inspection in May.

Montana Residential Home is run by Grace and Compassion Benedictines and provides accommodation and personal care for up to 19 older people, some of whom may be living with dementia.
 
Montana Residential Home is rated 'outstanding' for being caring, responsive and well-led, and 'good' for being safe and effective.  
 
Jemima Burnage, CQC’s head of inspection for adult social care in the central region says: “Our inspection team was really impressed by the level of care and support offered to people living at Montana Residential Home. 
 
“People received exceptionally personalised care and support which they were in control of. Activities were planned by staff and volunteers who worked closely with people to establish their individual and unique preferences. There was an exceptionally strong ethos within the home of treating people as individuals and with respect. 
 
“The registered manager was highly visible and approachable and enabled and empowered staff to deliver high quality care and to seek advice from her if needed. She had excellent knowledge of the home and the people living there in order to ensure that people had their preferences met. 
 
“Staff enjoyed working at the home and spoke positively about the registered manager and their strong leadership style and their oversight of the home. 
 
“Staff displayed they delivered exceptional care, compassion and empathy that showed all people mattered and were important. People who used the service commended the outstanding quality of care they received
 
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated 'outstanding'.”    
 
Andrea Sutcliffe, chief inspector of adult social care, says: “The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements.
     
“An outstanding service is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”
