The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Alderwood Care Home in Colchseter, Essex, to be 'outstanding' following an inspection in February.
Alderwood Care Home is registered to provide accommodation and personal care with nursing for up to 65 older people who may also have dementia.
Inspectors found staff were caring and compassionate and people were being provided with safe, responsive, caring, effective and well-led care.
Alderwood Care Home is rated 'outstanding' for being caring, responsive and well-led, and 'good' for being safe and effective.
Jemima Burnage, CQC’s head of inspection for adult social care in the central region says: “Our inspection team was really impressed by the level of care and support offered to people at Alderwood Care Home, which we found gave them an enhanced sense of quality of life and well-being.
“Staff had excellent relationships with people who used the service and were attentive to their needs.
“People were encouraged to follow their interests and hobbies and to engage in meaningful person centred activities. They were kept stimulated and engaged and the providers helped ensure that people continued to live a full a life as possible and to have their wishes fulfilled.
“The service worked extremely hard with relatives and friends to ensure everyone was supported at all times.
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated outstanding.”
