Quantum Care – a not-for-profit care provider which offers specialised residential, dementia and nursing care across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex – delighted residents by opening up its care homes as part of Care Home Open Day.
National Care Home Open Day is a nationwide event in which care homes across the country invite members of the public to celebrate staff, residents and the impact that local care homes have on the community.
This year’s theme was ‘Linking Communities’ and 23 of Quantum Care’s care homes took this to heart by opening up their care home doors to the public and encouraging residents to create new and lasting friendships with members of their local community.
In keeping with Quantum Care’s innovative nature, events across the homes were varied and exciting. Fosse House and Garden City Court introduced their inhouse pets to the community and taught them about the benefits pet therapy has had on individual residents and how this can help them socialise.
Greenacres ran cutting edge virtual reality sessions to demonstrate to relatives and members of the public how it is being used to stimulate memories in dementia patients. This followed on from a belly dancing session in the morning to show off residents’ love of keeping fit in new and exciting ways.
Other homes opted for more traditional parties celebrating the Queen’s birthday party with British themed street parties, with Willow Court hosting a St George’s themed party so amazing that St George himself attended - even bringing his dragon along to join in the fun.
Maria Ball, chief executive of Quantum Care, says: “Care Home Open Day is an event that we look forward to every year, and this year’s was no exception. The staff and residents did a wonderful job of hosting their events and all those who attended thoroughly enjoyed their day.
"I am confident that this year’s Care Home Open Day has created many lasting relationships between our residents and the members of the community. The wellbeing and happiness of our residents is at the heart of Quantum Care and we hope that our open days showed just how much of a fun-filled and loving environment our care homes are.
"On behalf of the staff and residents at Quantum Care we would like to thank all those who attended.”
