Poole home celebrates 10th anniversary

The Laurels & Pine Lodge Care Home in Oakdale, Poole celebrated its 10th anniversary on Wednesday 4 April 2018.

A host of prestigious guests, residents, relatives and community supporters attended the celebration to toast the care home and make the occasion, including MP for Poole, Robert Syms, The High Sheriff of Dorset, Mrs Victoria McDonough and councillor Janet Walton, leader of Poole Council.

The inclement weather didn’t dampen spirits or the celebrations as the large crowd gathered outside to cut the ribbon and open the brand new sensory garden.

Silvia Welch who has lived at The Laurels & Pine Lodge the longest was able to help cut the ribbon alongside guests. Entertainment was provided by two musicians from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra who performed songs from musicals such as The Sound of Music.

Councillor Janet Walton, leader of Poole Council says: "I think it’s been a fabulous day, it’s been so exciting to be here. I’m also a ward councillor for Oakdale and I have seen the home develop over the years and watched it grow from quite a small place to an amazing facility and it’s a real pleasure to be here."

Under the leadership of husband and wife duo, Sean and Jo Gavin, Hartford Care is governed by the three core principles of care, comfort and companionship.

CEO Sean says: "The thing that has always struck me about this home and Oakdale is the sense of community and togetherness -  it is something special and everyone should be proud.  I think it’s safe to say that the team here give a special kind of care, comfort and companionship that was present when Hartford Care purchased the home 10 years ago and that feeling is still here today."

The occasion also acknowledged 13 staff members who have worked at the care home for 10 years. Exclusive 10th anniversary badges were issued to congratulate them for long service.
