BB Training Academy has announced that it is expanding its health and social care apprenticeship programmes and learning and development courses, which are designed for those wishing to develop their skills and knowledge within the wider care sector.
The news comes after the National Audit Office (NAO) raised concerns over the pressures on the care system and warned that funding and staffing levels are not sustainable. One of the key reasons the sector has struggled to retain staff was identified by the NAO as poor career progression.
BB Training Academy is hoping that the announcement is welcomed within the care sector, as it aims to tackle the issue by offering a range of training programmes for those who would like to enter the sector and those who would like to upskill and progress from their current role.
The fully accredited courses include apprenticeships for each stage of development to aid career progression: level 2 Adult Care Worker, intermediate level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker and a Level 5 higher apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management.
Alongside apprenticeships, BB Training Academy also offers a range of shorter learning and development courses that cover a range of topics, from manual handling to health and safety and safeguarding, all carefully selected to upskill current workforces and provide them with the knowledge they need to progress within the sector.
CEO at BB Training Academy, Fay Gibbin explains: “We have been delivering training courses within the childcare and catering sector for over 15 years and were keen to expand our offering and roll it out to other sectors.
"Similar to childcare, we noticed that there was a need to stabilise the workforce within the health and social care sector. Apprenticeship programmes and training opportunities, when used as part of a talent management strategy, can help attract new staff and increase staff retention by boosting morale and empowering employees to progress in their roles, which ultimately improves the quality of care that is being provided to those that need it.
“Our comprehensive offering aims to ease the pressure on employers and managers to recruit and upskill their workforce by covering a range of qualifications suitable for every stage of a person’s career, whether it’s a trainee in their first role in care or a senior member of management.”
