Home manager shows 'true grit'

During the recent blizzard conditions seen across much of the UK, Anne Forbes, the manager of Anchor’s King James’ Court in West Street, Berwick showed ‘true grit’.

Anne answered a plea to help accommodate a pregnant woman and her mother overnight. The pair had been stranded in their car for 18 hours.

"I was just one of many people who came to the aid of others that night," comments Anne. "We had a spare guest room at our scheme, so I put the word out to the emergency services in case it was needed. I got the call at about 2am. After some homemade soup, we made them comfortable for the night."

Anne has also been praised by tenants at King James’ Court who were grateful that she had obtained essentials like bread and milk during the recent storms and red alert, contacting local supermarkets for available stock and driving to get them in adverse weather. "This is where Anchor's real staff heroes are," one of them said.
