Regional contractor Stepnell has been chosen by care home developer Frontier to create two ‘new generation’ care homes in Bedfordshire.
Each of the state-of-the-art homes will have 75 bedrooms, with en-suite bathrooms, as well as stylish communal spaces for dining, relaxing and socialising. Each home will have its own cinema room and gym, a café, hair and beauty salon, guest accommodation and a children’s play area for visitors.
Stepnell’s Rugby team has just started work on two construction contracts – each worth £8 million – to deliver the ultra-modern developments, designed by architects Harris Irwin Associates, in Ampthill Road, Flitwick and Hitchin Road, Fairfield. Each home is set for completion in May 2019.
Stepnell construction director Bill Haynes says: “These two facilities will help answer the significant need for high quality, care home accommodation in Bedfordshire, providing modern, beautifully designed living spaces for residents. We are delighted to have been chosen by Frontier as its construction partner to help realise its vision by creating these superb new developments.
“The company brings to these schemes significant specialist expertise in delivering care homes of the highest quality. We have extremely experienced teams working on each scheme, with both projects overseen by our award-winning project manager John Neill.”
John was a gold medal winner at the Chartered Institute of Building’s 2017 Construction Manager of the Year Awards and won the Public Infrastructure & Healthcare category of the awards.
