Making dementia products more accesssable

BES Rehab Ltd, a Bristol based healthcare company, has raised £100,000 for the purpose of reaching directly the families of those affected by dementia and learning difficulties in the UK.

The funds were raised through a crowdfunding campaign via Crowd2Fund.com, to expand BES’ newly acquired division, Activities to Share – a company which sells activity products to the NHS and care homes.

There are 1.5 million individuals affected by learning difficulties, and one million by dementia in the UK alone. The aim of the campaign is to extend Activities to Share’s scope to reach affected families directly, while encouraging interaction and communication between young people and there elderly relatives.

The products provided by Activities to Share range from sensory activities, table top games, to arts and crafts, all of which are aimed at encouraging an active social life, helping individuals feel happy, motivated, and included.

Greg Amos, co-founder of BES, says: “So many of these products are just as applicable to young people as they are to the older generation. They are ideal for youngsters to play with their elderly relatives – bringing generations together.”

Greg Amos and Dr Barend ter Haar, founders of BES Rehab Ltd, have spent the last 25 years working with market leading suppliers from around the world, to bring innovative products to the UK, to assist healthcare professionals in providing the highest quality of care for their patients.
