Four Seasons homes face uncertain period

GMB, the union for care home staff, has commented on reports that Four Seasons Health Care may be sold to an American investor.

Four Seasons operates over 350 care homes and employs thousands of staff across the UK.

GMB is a recognised union for Four Seasons health care staff.

Sharon Wilde, GMB National Officer for Care, says: “Residents and staff at Four Seasons homes are facing an uncertain period and any investment in the business should be cautiously welcomed.

“GMB will be seeking more information about these proposals, and if press reports are accurate then GMB looks forward to meeting the prospective buyers to understand their plans for Four Seasons’ care homes.

“GMB will continue to work closely with staff to represent any concerns to management and the group’s owners during any transition period.

“The care sector as a whole is struggling due to inadequate funding from central government and local authorities.

"Additional funding is vital if we are to end the continued uncertainty confronting the sector.”
