CQC rates Suffolk nursing home 'outstanding'

The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Risby Park Nursing Home, in Bury St Edmunds, to be 'outstanding' following an inspection in July.

Risby Park Nursing Home is run by The Partnership In Care Ltd and provides accommodation, nursing and personal care for up to 54 older people.

Inspectors found staff were caring and compassionate and people were being provided with safe, responsive, caring, effective and well led care.

Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Risby Park Nursing Home was rated 'outstanding' for being caring, well-led and responsive and 'good' for being effective and safe.

Rob Assall-Marsden, CQC’s head of inspection for adult social care in the central region, says: “Our inspection team were really impressed by the level of care and support offered to people living at Risby Park Nursing Home.

“This nursing home was exceptionally well-led. The registered manager was a highly skilled leader who had clear oversight of the home and a passion for delivering the very best care to people.

“Staff knew the needs and preferences of the people they cared for and people were given reassurance and encouragement when they needed it. People were at the forefront of their care and staff went the extra mile to ensure people had their care needs met in the way they wanted them.

“Extremely caring and compassionate relationships had been cultivated between people and staff.

“There were extremely effective quality monitoring processes in place which covered all areas of the home and care delivered to people. Staff morale in the home was extremely high and staff were proud to work there. They were remarkably enthusiastic and passionate about delivering high quality care.

“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated 'outstanding'.”

Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, says: “The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements.
“An outstanding service is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”
