Design should be fit for purpose as well as aesthetically pleasing, creating an environment in which people want to live and are safe. This is particularly true in a care home. Care providers need to ensure that the design aspects they choose are well worth the investment they make, both in the short and long term. It is therefore necessary to consider: colour in care home design; how technology has, and continues to, influence and improve the standards and quality of care; and the importance of outdoor space.
By future proofing design, it will appeal to younger generations and stand the test of time. Therefore, it is important to consider what millennials are accustomed to, both aesthetically and technologically. Choose design styles that are close to those used in hospitality and will not require updating every couple of years and select classic styles that will not date.
When thinking about technology, ensure you have the facilities to keep your equipment up to date and in turn ensure your staff members are trained to use the latest equipment to the maximum effect. Aspects that can be considered in today’s technologically advanced environment include:
