An innovative approach to catering

White Oaks, a provider of services to the care and residential living market, has launched a new range of business solutions.

Part of Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Healthcare division, the business already caters for over 5000 residents a day, across 150 sites, providing bespoke residential focused services. However, recognising the challenges the care sector is facing, through labour inflation, reduced local authority funding, changes to the Care Act as well as the changing ageing population, White Oaks has developed a different approach to meet these evolving requirements of the care and residential living market.

White Oaks is now offering a choice of four service packages, providing transparency for care homes and residential care communities when they are considering using the services of a specialist to support their business. The four support packages are:

• Procurement only: access to Compass Group’s significant buying power, along with its surety and due diligence, plus the advantage of global and national deals.
• Procurement and consultancy: contains all of the procurement only package with the added benefit of consultancy from in house Compass specialists including dietitians, culinary, health and safety and marketing. All work to improve the resident experience and nutrition, food quality, reduce waste and other additional costs.
• Fully managed services model: peace of mind that comes with the full White Oaks service where the White Oaks team can take on all elements of the service delivery including the management of labour.
• Steamplicity and Esteem: delivers a fully catered solution with the advantages of using the only fresh micro-steaming food cooking system in the UK market, which incorporate its unique patented valve. This ensures that high quality nutritious food is able to be consistently delivered, as well as reducing food wastage and providing flexible ‘out of hours’ catering support options for healthy, fresh food.

Steve Cenci, healthcare managing director, Compass Group UK & Ireland, says: “We are passionate about delivering a first-class resident centred service, that meets the high expectations of residents and families and ensuring we can provide a home from home experience.

"We recognise that the total wellbeing of residents, their families and our clients is achieved by providing consistently excellent sustainable and affordable services. We work hard to ensure that meals times are always an exciting part of the day and something to look forward to.

“We believe that our new offers really reflect the dynamic and changing needs of the care home and residential care sector. Outsourcing catering or food services provision can be very daunting for care organisations, often accompanied by a sense of ‘loss of control’. We hope that by having a choice of four business solutions that we can help to simplify the process and provider a clearer way forward for clients.”

In addition to launching their all-encompassing business solutions, White Oaks has also refreshed it’s branding to reflect its new innovative approach, focusing on providing a home from home experience with peace of mind for both the clients and the residents.

Representatives from White Oaks will be exhibiting at the annual National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Training and Development Forum on 6th October at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham. Situated at Stand 10, food sampling sessions of their breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea food offerings will take place throughout the day in addition to information around White Oaks new business solutions.
