Healthcare provider, Newcross Healthcare Solutions has been supporting Dementia Awareness Week by encouraging employees to sign up to become Dementia Friends during 2016 with over 1200 employees pledging their support to the initiative so far.
Registered charity, Dementia Friends was formed in March 2013 and is a social action movement run by the Alzheimer’s Society, aiming to remove the stigma of living with dementia. It does this by providing as many people across England and Wales with an understanding of dementia, and advice on the type of actions that can be taken to help those living with the condition.
As a Dementia Friend, Newcross employees will have the chance to learn more about living with dementia through attending a face-to-face information session or by watching an online video. From telling friends about Dementia Friends to visiting someone living with dementia, every action counts.
Michelle Gorringe (RN), Newcross managing director says, “Having over 1200 Newcross employees pledge their support to Dementia Friends is a fantastic achievement. At Newcross, we strive to build compassionate communities through the high standard of personalised care that we provide.
“By encouraging our staff members to become Dementia Friends we hope to raise awareness and give those with dementia the confidence to live happy, independent lives.
“We are delighted to be supporting this fantastic initiative.”
