Salisbury home sold for the first time since 1999

Fairfax House care home in Salisbury, Wiltshire, has been purchased by first-time buyers from London.

The ‘Good’ rated residential and dementia care home is registered for 20 residents. It occupies a two-storey, 20-bedroom property close to the centre of Salisbury.

Having owned the home since 1999, Alan and Diana Butchers decided to put the business on the market to retire from the care sector. Following a confidential sales process with Charles Phillips at Christie & Co, it has been purchased by first-time buyers from London, Lionel and Pioshy Marcelline.

Alan and Diana Butchers, former owners of Fairfax House, said: “We have enjoyed running Fairfax House and getting to know the staff – many of whom have been with us since shortly after we started - as well as the residents and their families. However, we felt now was the right time to sell and retire from the sector. Having operated Fairfax House and another care home in Salisbury, we hope we have been of benefit to the local community. We are pleased to be handing the business over to the new buyers and wish them all the best.”

Lionel Marcelline, the new owner of Fairfax House, commented: “Both Pioshy and I are very excited about taking over Fairfax House and continuing the good name the home has in the local area. This is our first care home and look forward to many years involved in the sector. When we first saw Fairfax House, we knew this was the business for us.”

Charles Phillips, director – healthcare at Christie & Co, adds, “It has been a pleasure acting for Alan and Diana in the sale of Fairfax House and I am delighted to have found Lionel and Pioshy who will be taking over from them. There was a good deal of interest expressed during the marketing of this business, which demonstrates the strong demand for care homes of all sizes throughout the south.”
