The Priory care home in Chippenham, Wiltshire, has been sold to allow its owners to retire from the care sector.
Registered for 24 residents, The Priory occupies a Grade II Listed Edwardian period property that has been extended and improved over the years to include 18 en-suite bedrooms and five care apartments. The home is located close to Chippenham’s town centre.
The home has been owned by Mark and Judith Allworth since 2004 and was brought to market to allow them to retire from the sector, having sold their previous home, Arden House, last year. The Priory has been purchased by first-time buyer Vishal Chandnani.
Former owner Mark Allworth said: “We purchased The Priory in 2004 when I left the IT industry. It was our first move into the care industry, as it now has been for Vishal. The Priory was a great business to learn the industry in, allowing us to buy additional homes. It has been developed to where it is today, and I am confident that Vishal will move it on and take it further once again.”
New owner Vishal Chandnani commented: “The Priory is a lovely care home and property, and I am looking forward to being part of a great team and community.”
Simon Harvey, senior director – care at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added: “Whilst this transaction was not without its challenges, as is the case with many, we are delighted to have acted for Mark and Judith once again to facilitate their retirement from the sector and, at the same time, assist Vishal in acquiring his first care home business. This transaction, as is the case with numerous others that are currently ongoing, continues to demonstrate the appetite and activity within the market across the South West and for a wide range and variety of care businesses.”
