Not-for-profit provider Anchor has won the Best Care Home Employer award at the London regional final of the Great British Care Awards 2023.
The Great British Care Awards honour individuals and organisations that have gone the extra mile to help improve the lives of their residents. Judges praised Anchor as a dedicated employer committed to workplace wellbeing with an ‘employee first’ approach.
Having won the regional award, Anchor will now represent London in the Care Home Employer category in the national finals of the Great British Care Awards, taking place on 22 March 2024 in Birmingham.
Anchor is an accredited Age-Friendly and Living Wage employer, becoming in 2021 the first large provider of care and housing in England to pay all its staff, whatever their age, at or above the Living Wage Foundation’s real living wage.
Rob Martin, managing director of care services at Anchor, said: “This is a wonderful achievement for Anchor. We’re deeply honoured to have been named the Best Care Home Employer at the London regional final. Recognising the profound contribution of our social care colleagues is crucial to inspiring a new generation of people to join our workforce and shine a light on the highest standards of care we provide to our residents.
“Congratulations to all the other regional finalists as well. We’re all looking forward to the national awards in March and hoping to take the National Best Care Home Employer Award back with us!”
