Larchwood Care sells portfolio to Ann’s Care Homes

Larchwood Care has sold its portfolio of seven Northern Ireland care homes to family-owned operator Ann’s Care Homes.

The portfolio comprises Apple Blossom Lodge in Armagh, Culmore Manor Care Centre and Oakleaves Care Centre in Londonderry, Glebe Care Centre and Dunanney Care Home in Belfast, Melmont Manor in Strabane, and Kingsland Care Centre in Bangor. In total, the homes are registered to care for up to 330 residents and employ 560 staff members.

Following a confidential sales process with Christie & Co, the homes were purchased by Ann’s Care Homes, which operates 16 care homes across Northern Ireland.

Ann McQuade, director of Ann’s Care Homes, said: “Over the last number of years, we have increased our nursing home provision across Northern Ireland. As part of this continued growth, we are delighted to announce the acquisition of seven homes from Larchwood Care. We are committed to retaining each of these homes' distinctive character and personality and will continue to work with and develop the existing staff whilst delivering the highest quality care and support to the residents and their families.”

Martin Gould, head of brokerage – Care at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added: “It was a pleasure to act for Larchwood on the sale of this portfolio. This deal also follows on from other notable care portfolio transactions in Northern Ireland over the last two years, which we believe aptly highlights the strength of the local market and the high interest levels good operators have to invest into the care sector.”
