Take care with the Building Safety Act

Tom Lumsden, a partner at CooperBurnett LLP, looks at the implications of the Building Safety Act 2022

The Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA 2022) is one of the most far-reaching pieces of legislation in the building and construction arena in the last 40 years. The Act is more than 250 pages long and is covered by detailed guidance, numerous statutory instruments, and draft statutory instruments, and more than 31 Government fact sheets. It is not an Act for the faint hearted!

Most larger care operators and their professional construction teams will already be well versed with the BSA 2022 and will be taking its requirements into consideration for existing and future construction projects. There may, however, be some operators who are not yet fully au fait with its requirements.
