The impact in care homes
Independent testing carried out by Dipl Chem, Martin Wesselmann in 2020 concluded that the installation of air purifiers is to be regarded as a target orientated extension measure for infection control, particularly in retirement homes where regular cross-ventilation is difficult to implement due to the cold-sensitive occupants. The testing took place in a real-life care home environment with a high concentration of airborne particles, measuring the volume of ultrafine particles in the air with and without A Fellowes Air Purifier in use. In only 5 minutes, the concentration was reduced by 50% and after 30 minutes, 80% of the potentially infectious aerosols had been removed from the air.

The Fellowes AeraMax Pro AM3 and AM4 air purifiers were tested at the University of Genoa, School of Medicine, Department of Experimental Medicine against COVID-19 virus contaminants and the study found that they neutralised the airborne viral load of SARS-CoV-2 entirely and were able to remove 99.9999% of the aerosolised SARS-CoV-2 through a single pass of the purifier. In addition, certification from the Shanghai WEIPU Chemical Technology Service Company found that the AeraMax Pro products showed a 99.99% airborne reduction of a coronavirus surrogate and 99.9% removal of the H1N1 flu virus (commonly known as Swine Flu).
