Manual patient repositioning: repositioned

Sponsored Feature. Patient repositioning is a crucial aspect of healthcare, as it helps prevent complications and ensures patient wellbeing. While manual repositioning has been the go-to method for care staff, tech advancements have seen automated lateral patient turning systems emerging as potential alternatives, as Craig Jones, UK Product Manager at Frontier Medical Group, explains.

One of the primary goals of patient repositioning is to prevent complications such as pressure ulcers, respiratory issues, and musculoskeletal injuries. Manual patient repositioning has been the long-standing method used by healthcare professionals. It involves physically moving patients in bed, either by turning them manually or using assistive devices. While this method has been effective, it can be physically demanding for healthcare staff and may lead to increased workload and potential injuries.

On the other hand, automated lateral patient turning systems have gained popularity due to their potential to reduce the physical strain on healthcare professionals. These systems use automated devices that automatically reposition patients at regular intervals. By doing so, they aim to alleviate the burden on healthcare staff and ensure consistent and timely repositioning.

To explore the benefits and considerations of both methods, we invite you to join our webinar on manual patient repositioning versus automated lateral patient turning.
