Care purchasing network Spectrum Care Ltd gathered care sector professionals at London’s Embankment to discuss the state of the social care sector with a focus on tax and financial planning.
The event – Tax aware: future planning for the care market – was designed to support care home operators of all scales and sizes with valuable support, insights, and networking opportunities. It was held in association with PwC UK and chaired by Spectrum director Shaleeza Hasham, who runs the family-owned care group, CHD Living.
Shaleeza said: “Following on from our 20th anniversary event last year, we were delighted with the turn out and the invaluable insights of our speakers. Together, we explored the many ways in which we can support smaller and independent owners in knowledge and advice, whilst being a valuable, dedicated procurement arm negotiating preferential pricing with key suppliers across our sector.
“Having spent more than 12 years in the social care sector and as a second-generation care home operator, within a family-owned and operated business myself; I have witnessed first-hand the complexities and importance of appropriately structuring our business and how crucial this is to future planning.
“So, the event was a great and much-needed chance to address the ever-evolving landscape of the care sector, with the esteemed speakers providing our members with an update on the latest headwinds and exploring tax best practices and succession planning. They were indispensable in guiding us through the intricate world of taxation, sharing their insights on how to optimise tax strategies to maximise financial efficiency and ensure the sustainability of our businesses.”
