Bymead House Nursing Home in Dorset has been sold to BN Care Group, which owns two care homes in Exeter, Devon.
The home, located in the village of Charmouth, is a two-storey property which has been extended and improved since outgoing owner Susan Blacklock acquired it in 1992. It provides accommodation for up to 30 elderly residents.
Recently, Susan decided to sell up and retire from the sector. Following a confidential sales process with Christie & Co, the business has been purchased by Wade Newmark of BN Care Group for an undisclosed price, with backing from HSBC Bank and following significant investment in BN Care from capital investor BGF.
Susan Blacklock said: “It was a major decision to sell Bymead after 30 years ownership and I wish to thank Simon Harvey of Christie & Co for steering me through the process. I would like to wish Wade Newmark and his team all success going forward with Bymead House.”
BN Care Group MD Wade Newmark commented: “At BN Care, we are incredibly fortunate to take on a home whose history, team, and reputation chime so closely with our values of kindness and community. I have owned and operated care homes for the past 18 years, and will hopefully bring some of my experience to Bymead to take the home forward and to build on the wonderful foundation set down by Susan over the years.”
Simon Harvey, senior director – healthcare at Christie & Co, added: “Homes in these locations, with consistently strong, profitable trading performances and excellent reputations, just like Bymead House, are highly sought-after by a wide range of buyers and, in particular, operators who understand the individual areas and how important it is that their homes sit as part of the local communities. As we move through March, the care market remains buoyant, with numerous ongoing deals as well as strong interest being shown in a number of other ongoing projects and, therefore, the general tone and expectation for the remainder of the year is positive. We expect volumes to be maintained throughout 2023 and beyond.”
