The 138-acre former Pestalozzi International Village in East Sussex is for sale, with possible scope for redeveloping the site into a retirement village.
Christie & Co has been instructed by owner PGL Travel Ltd to handle the sale. Situated in a picturesque location near Sedlescombe in East Sussex, within the High Weald designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Pestalozzi was an international children’s educational and residential centre for over 60 years until its acquisition by PGL in 2019.
The site incorporates a number of residential and educational buildings as well as a lake, sports pitches, and agricultural land.
Pestalozzi’s permitted planning use is as an educational and residential institution and there is an existing consent allowing for the development of further accommodation on site. According to Christie & Co, the site may have potential for a variety of healthcare- and education-related uses falling within class C2, including possible health & wellbeing, place of worship, or non-residential education uses. Additionally, it is thought that the site may have potential for an element of residential development.
