Kings Lynn care home opens dementia café

Amberley Hall Care Home in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, is launching a dementia café offering activities for those living with dementia and support for their caregivers.

Once a month, the café will be open to anyone touched by dementia, including relatives of residents, those living independently, and those being cared for at home, as well as those supporting them.

The first session takes place on Friday 20th January between 10 am and midday. Tea, coffee, and freshly baked cake will be served to everyone attending. The Amberley Hall Dementia Café will subsequently be held on the third Friday of each month, with the next session taking place on 17 February.

The Alzheimer’s Society will be offering a talk on dementia, while the Amberley Hall’s lifestyles team will provide a range of activities including arts and crafts, games, and puzzles for those not wishing to attend the talk.

Kerri Rasberry, customer relationship manager at Amberley Hall, said: “Living with dementia can be a lonely experience, not only for the person but also the caregiver. We want to give people the chance to talk to others in a similar position, who understand what they are going through.

“The lifestyles teams will provide activities that help people living with dementia to use the skills they have, give them a sense of purpose and boost self-esteem.”
