Bliss Care Group, owned by care home turnaround expert Issac Theopolis, has acquired Aveland Court in Torquay, Devon.
The successful acquisition follows consultation with Helen Wong MBE of leading remote-working legal service Setfords.
Aveland Court in Torquay Devon offers residential and dementia care, as well as respite care and convalescent care, and looks after people with physical disabilities and sensory impairments. It has a current CQC rating of ‘needs improvement’.
Issac Theopolis said: “It is precisely because this care home needs improvement that I have decided to buy it. I have the skills to turn care homes around and I am delighted to acquire Aveland Court which has huge potential and is in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. I feel that I can develop and build on the culture and ethos and motivate the whole team to work towards a common goal of further caring for our residents and significantly improving our CQC rating. There are exciting times ahead as we build on the quality of the services we provide. The huge support that the team provides enormously enhances our abilities to assist those patients needing our help. Having already parachuted in as the registered manager to get a feel of this home, now I am the owner, I am so excited to lead this brilliant team in a seamless way. The first thing I did when we completed was buying cakes and donuts for the entire team to celebrate as a team.”
On his appointment of Helen Wong MBE of Setfords, Issac added: “I have been working with Helen Wong MBE from the very beginning of my acquisition trail. Her patience, in-depth regulatory knowledge, and legal strategic brain have helped me with making this acquisition come alive. She’s taught me how to fund acquisitions despite having a very tight budget and how to structure my business with growth in mind. I am grateful that she has been available at all hours and even on weekends to help me with any questions or concerns I have. Not only is she one of the best lawyers I have ever worked with, but she’s extremely friendly, approachable, and efficient. No matter what time I WhatsApp Helen, she replies and that has been reassuring as there have been quite a few obstacles to overcome. I would also like to extend my thanks to Jonathan Senior who worked alongside Helen on the property side. He is to the point, efficient, and just gets the job done.”
Helen Wong MBE commented: “We are delighted to have advised Issac Theopolis on this successful acquisition and look forward to continue working with Issac as he seeks out other opportunities to grow and broaden his network of care homes.”
