Care provider My Choice Health Care has acquired two Swansea care homes in a sale managed by Christie & Co.
The homes in question, Hawthorn Court Residential Home and Ocean Living, were previously owned by Mr Alan and Mrs Gloria Thorburn, who founded the homes over 30 years ago and recently decided to retire.
Hawthorn Court, a large Victorian property set over three floors and with a modern extension, delivers dementia care for up to 24 older adults. The home boasts westerly views across Swansea Bay. Ocean Living, meanwhile, is a small home for up to 14 residents. It too enjoys views of the bay.
The sale means that My Choice now has a portfolio of five South Wales care homes.
My Choice MD Bethan Evans said: “We are delighted to have worked with Christie & Co to acquire both of these homes. We are committed to delivering the highest quality of care and support that we can for our residents, and we very much look forward to working with the teams at both Hawthorn Court and Ocean Living in the coming months and years, continuing the great work that Mr and Mrs Thorburn have led over many years.”
Alan and Gloria Thornburn said: “After owning Hawthorn Court and Ocean Living for over 30 years, we’re really pleased to be handing our portfolio over to My Choice Health Care who share our ethos and drive for delivering high-quality care in South Wales.”
Oliver McCarthy, associate director at Christie & Co, added: “This pair of brilliant Swansea care homes, and the interest garnered in this sales process, represents the strong appetite for quality care businesses that we’re seeing in the market at the moment, and expect to see for the remainder of the year. Alan and Gloria have established a great business over the last 30 years, and I’m very pleased to have been able to assist them on their road to retirement.”
