LNT Care has purchased a site with the benefit of planning consent for a care home in the market town of Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
The sale, handled by Christie & Co, concerned a 1.3-acre site. In September 2019, planning permission was granted for the demolition of existing buildings, previously owned by Linden Homes, and the construction of a three-storey care home.
Plans have now been submitted for a 66-bed care home development. The planned home will be close to Nuneaton town centre and will include health and beauty facilities, a cinema, and café bar. LNT promises landscaped gardens that will boost the local ecology thanks to pollinating, habitat-friendly sensory planting, and says that it aims to generate the majority of the home’s energy on-site using ground source heating and solar power.
LNT land director Keeley Sharp said: “LNT Care Developments is delighted to have acquired this scheme in Nuneaton, adding to an established and emerging pipeline of sites across the Midlands and in line with our strategy to continue to address the shortfall in quality care provision across the UK. Detailed planning has been submitted for a 66-bedroom care home, providing outstanding accommodation with fully en-suite bedrooms, spacious communal areas, and state-of-the-art amenities with a planned construction commencement in September 2022.”
Christie & Co’s Sara Hartill added: “A care home development site in this location is well suited to the needs of future residents and will integrate well into the town as a vital community asset where there was a demonstrable need for a new, purpose-built care home.”
The site was sold for an undisclosed price.
