The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has appointed four social care experts to advise on its adult social care commission.
The appointees are: University of Amsterdam lecturer Dr. Franca van Hooren; Voluntary Organisations Disability Group chief executive Dr. Rhidian Hughes; National Institute for Health Research Health & Social Care Workforce Research Unit director Professor Jill Manthorpe and National Care Forum chief executive Vic Rayner (pictured).
The appointments follow a public expression of interest process, which called for social care experts from the sector, academia and the third sector.
In July, the Home Office commissioned MAC to undertake a review of the impact that ending freedom of movement has had on adult social care.
“I am delighted that such an esteemed group of experts has agreed to advise the MAC on the social care commission. Their insight and experience will be vital in our work,” said MAC chairman Professor Brian Bell.
The experts have been appointed in an individual capacity to provide support across the MAC’s work on the social care commission until it reports its findings in April 2022.
The advisory group’s work will include peer reviewing analysis plans; advising on terminology and approaches to primary research; supporting the development of recommendations; and reviewing the MAC’s final report.
