Access acquires Servelec to create joined-up care offering

Software provider Access Group has acquired Servelec with a view to creating an integrated health and social care offering.

Servelec is a supplier to NHS trusts and local authorities, and has recently acquired Elemental Software - a provider of social prescribing technology.

Access said the acquisition will enable it to offer services across local government, health and social care, combining Access’ suite of existing solutions with Servelec’s ability to integrate technology across social care, healthcare, education and youth services.

With Integrated Care Systems in England set to embed collaboration and promote more joined up care, the acquisition gives Access the opportunity to integrate systems and data right across the health and social care sector, it added.

Access health and social care division head Steve Sawyer (pictured) will lead the enlarged business, supported by Servelec’s existing leadership team, including healthcare managing director Steve Wightman local government managing director David McKinney,

Elemental Software will continue to be led by co-founders Jennifer Neff and Leeann Monk-Ozgul, while Servelec chief executive, Ian Crichton, will step down after supporting the initial transition.

“Through the use of our technology and services, Access’ purpose is to support customers with the freedom to deliver outstanding care. Combined with Servelec’s focus on improving lives with technology that matters, and Elemental’s work to reduce health inequalities through the social prescribing movement, we have the opportunity to make a real difference together,” said Sawyer.

“Aligned to the government’s strategy for integrated health and social care, this deal will help us create better outcomes for clinicians, social care professionals and other care providers, plus the people they support,” he added.

“From the point of first need through to the delivery and monitoring of services, we aim to provide more efficient, cost-effective services, help the NHS and local government track and plan for long-term challenges, and provide a continuous integrated view of a person’s health and social care journey.”

Servelec and Elemental’s products will continue alongside Access’ portfolio of health and social care solutions and will be brought onto the Access Workspace platform, providing a single sign-on and integration with the wider Access portfolio.
