Places for People wraps 60-home Grimsby extra care scheme

Living Plus, part of the Places for People Group, has completed construction of a 60-bed extra care development in Grimsby, Lincolnshire.

Known as Burchester Court, the scheme is the company’s first affordable extra care development in Grimsby.

Places for People partnered with Morgan Sindall Later Living and Esh Construction, who have constructed the site, alongside North East Lincolnshire CCG and Homes England.

Burchester Court is designed to be an independent living option for local residents over-55 who have care and support needs, or those who may need them in the future.

The homes on offer at Burchester Court comprise one and two bed apartments, all with accessible and open plan living space and substantial bedrooms.

Each apartment has a private front door, a contemporary kitchen, bathroom wet floor with level access shower area, full height window in the main living area, which forms the ‘heart’ of the apartment.

The development will offer 24-hour onsite care, a ‘Garden City’ café, a hair and beauty salon as well as lounges and gardens.

The building will offer services for customers, enabling them to feel included, supported and helping to tackle loneliness. It is also in close proximity to community hub, Centre One.

“Extra Care apartments offer a residential option for those who wish to be independent, with their own front door and privacy, yet with the knowledge that they can be supported in their own home when, necessary,” said Living Plus managing director Andy Lomas.

“This isn’t residential care as some may perceive it, it’s a place in which people can maintain their own home, with real choices and amenities that make the local community a great place to be,” he added.
