With ages ranging from six months to 105 years old, the ‘Bring your children and grandchildren to work day’ at Richmond Nantwich was a feast of fun and laughter as the youngsters related to the residents and staff were invited to the retirement village to enjoy a day full of activities.
Held in the run up to Halloween, the day started with breakfast followed by the carving of pumpkins kindly donated by Morrisons, and young and old were soon deep in concentration. After a quick clean-up, children’s activity group Boogie Beats made a return to the village to provide an hour of music and rhyme and even more laughs.
Everyone was treated to lunch; a wonderful atmosphere with the children chattering away to the residents before unveiling all their hard work – rows of pumpkins lit-up and ready for Halloween.
Lynne Griffin, village manager says: “These days are fantastic for everyone involved – the children, their parents and our residents – laughter is such wonderful therapy. Anyone who has been watching the recent TV programme about the interaction between the generations will have seen how this benefits everyone - from the youngest to the oldest at 105!”
Hilary Minshull, care home manager adds: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was a very busy and slightly hectic day, but the smiles and happy faces from all ages has been worth every moment. We will certainly be repeating this again.”
