WCS Care has been announced as a finalist in the Charity Times Awards which celebrate best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector.
The Warwickshire-based charity has been shortlisted for two awards - ‘Charity of the Year: with an income of over £10 million’ and ‘Best use of technology’.
Now in its 18th year, the awards are run by Charity Times magazine. This year’s winners will be announced at a gala dinner and ceremony on Wednesday 4 October 2017 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
WCS Care is celebrating 25 years of delivering high quality care later this year and is home to over 500 people across the county. Its creative approach to care and innovative use of technology – such as night-time acoustic monitoring and electronic care planning – are already getting national attention and the charity has developed an Innovation Hub to share learning among the wider sector, which has welcomed over 100 visitors to date.
Christine Asbury, WCS Care’s chief executive, says: "We’re delighted that our approach to care and use of technology are being recognised nationally after being announced as a finalist in the Charity Times Awards.
"WCS Care is changing social care expectations, and is delivering a challenge to the wider sector to raise its game and help change people’s perceptions about care homes, by sharing best practice and promoting stories of the great care that happens every day across the country.
"We’re not afraid to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation so that every day is well lived for people living in a WCS Care home, and we are inspiring other providers to think differently and to try new ways of doing things at the same time."
