Residents, family and friends from across the UK have selected their top 20 care homes (within each region) via care homes review site, carehome.co.uk.
Care homes were scored out of 10 by respondents, with an overall rating being accompanied by those for nutrition, staff, value for money, facilities and whether residents are treated with dignity.
Care home groups have also received Top 20 awards.
Having received over 45,000 reviews between July 2015 and March 2017, carehome.co.uk calculated each home’s overall score by combining the number of reviews, the average of each of the ratings and the size of the care home.
carehome.co.uk lists nearly 19,000 registered care homes in the UK, and exists to enhance individual choice and freedom by enabling people to search for the most suitable care home.
Davina Ludlow, director of carehome.co.uk, says: “We feel the best people to rate a care home are the residents and their families and friends. Their reviews reveal that many care homes are warm and happy places to live, where staff go that extra mile to ensure residents have a good quality of life and feel cared for.
“These awards highlight the care homes and care home groups which provide a high standard of care and we’d like to congratulate them on winning a Top 20 award.
“It’s a wonderful achievement to be recognised for being a highly recommended home and care home group by the very people you care for.”
