Coffee mornings raise £13,800 for Macmillan

A retirement housing development in Airdrie has held its seventh annual coffee morning raising an incredible combined total of £13,800 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Bield’s Inglefield Court has held coffee mornings for the past seven years, raising more every year, contributing towards funds for the charity.

This year the morning was a hub of social activity and raised a tasty £2,675.

Macmillan fundraising manager Kamie Kilty says: “We are very grateful for this donation. It will go a long way to helping us be there for people with cancer and their families.

“No one should have to face cancer alone and with support like this, they won’t have to.”

The coffee morning consisted of a range of activities including two tombolas and a raffle with prizes donated by tenants and local businesses.

Open to everyone, the coffee morning regularly hosts tenants, friends, and family who were able to enjoy a selection of home-baking, sandwiches and pies.

Natalie McDonald, development manager at Bield’s Inglefield Court, says: “Everyone is very proud of helping to raise such a fantastic amount.

“Macmillan is a charity that is very close to the hearts of many of our tenants and staff. Being able to help support the vital work it provides is particularly important to us.

“Everyone looks forward to the coffee mornings and gets really involved in any way they can.”
