A group of 13 staff from luxury elderly care provider Hadrian Healthcare are the first in the country to achieve a new Ofqual/ROSPA Qualifications accredited Level 3 moving and handling training qualification.
Specialist equipment supplier Britton Price provides the ‘Train the Trainer’ course, which qualifies participants to train to Level 2 (People Handling) and Level 1 (Load Handling), specifically for the care and nursing home sector.
Karen Brimble, operations manager at Hadrian Healthcare, is one of the newly qualified staff. She says: “As a company we do our utmost to ensure the safety of our residents and staff. Training and high quality professional equipment are key to making moving and handling as safe, comfortable and easy as possible.
“We can now deliver moving and handling training in-house to Level 2 at each of our six care homes.”
Practical training for the group was carried out over two days at one of the care homes.
Each member of the group was monitored by the Britton Price trainer throughout and their workbooks were marked for the final assessment.
Hadrian Healthcare’s newly qualified staff trainers now have access to Britton Price’s online training portal which has a comprehensive range of training and reference materials including over 300 training videos, training manuals, safe systems of work and legislation guidance. Assessments of staff trained to Level 2 will be carried out by Britton Price.
Mark Cable, sales and training director at Britton Price says: “We understand the challenges that care staff face on a daily basis so our training is tailored to meet each group’s requirements and their company policies.
“We provide support to ensure maximum safety for residents and staff at all times. The training programme exceeds the standards of the Care Quality Commission in all of the required areas.”
