Two Christmas card designs, lovingly created by talented individuals living in Barchester care homes, have been turned into charity Christmas cards to be received by people throughout the UK.
The sale of the cards will help raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, which helps older people and other adults living with a disability in the UK by offering grants to improve independence, mobility and quality of life.
The two designs used were entered into Barchester’s Christmas card competition by Luisa Shippey from Longueville Court Care Home in Peterborough and Biddy Bullinger from Ashfields Care Home in Norwich.
Both entries hugely impressed the judges. Luisa painted a beautiful fireplace scene that and dog-lover Biddy drew a comic design using the pun ‘dachshund through the snow’. These winning works of art chosen from hundreds of designs entered into Barchester’s Christmas Card Competition by people who live in Barchester care homes.
The cards are being sold to Barchester homes across the UK. The money raised will help Barchester’s Charitable Foundation continue to offer grants to individuals and groups, such as the £1,000 grant given to Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust earlier in the year which paid for a series of crafts and educational sessions for lonely and vulnerable older people.
