Day care centre embraces Christmas spirit

A Milngavie day care centre has embraced the Christmas spirit with an evening of carols, festive food and a visit from Santa.

Bield’s Oakburn Park saw a fantastic 68 visitors join together to enjoy choral singing, live music and  warming homemade mulled wine and mince pies.

For the fourth year running, the staff and service users welcomed friends, family and members of the community into the centre to celebrate the yuletide.

Margaret Anderson, a carer at Oakburn Park, says: “Everyone had a really great night – what a wonderful occasion, it was quite overwhelming!”

Following performances from the local choir and an angelic solo of ‘O Holy Night’ from a local church vocalist, David Granger performed a medley of Christmas hits on the saxophone for a singalong.

The evening was capped off by a visit from Father Christmas who was delighted to see so many local children joining in with the festivities.

Donna McCallum, acting manager at Oakburn Park Day Care, says: “It’s fantastic to see such a great turn-out, all the staff who volunteered on the evening were run off their feet!

“Christmas is always a fantastic time of year to have a get-together and celebrate, and we’re delighted to see so many from the community.”
