A luxury care home for older people has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Blenheim House Care Home was praised by inspectors who said ‘staff were kind, caring and dignified’ in its latest report.
The 53-bed home, on Bath Road, was subject to an unannounced inspection in June and included feedback from family members of residents.
One said of the home ‘I feel that as well as supporting my wife, I am supported well by the staff too’.
Another rated the standard of care as ‘excellent’, while another relative added ‘My loved one is well cared for, from the receptionist to the caring staff at the café who will give a hug without hesitation’.
In addition to the care provided inspectors also praised the quality of the home and the facilities on offer to the residents.
The report gave special mention to the in-house cinema, the library, the café and the beauty salon with hairdresser.
The positive CQC report comes at an exciting time for the home as it prepares to open a new 32-bed extension to the existing building.
The new building, which includes a traditional pub, an indoor potting shed, pet shop, beautifully landscaped sensory gardens and a new car park, is now just weeks away from opening.
Head of operations, Angela Boxall is delighted with the findings of the latest CQC inspection.
She says: “I’m so proud of the team here at Blenheim House, this report is well deserved.
“Our priority is to make sure that Blenheim House is a true ‘home’ for our residents, a place where they can continue to enjoy life and create new memories with their loved ones.
“The comments in the report reflect that and I’m proud that when you walk around Blenheim House it does feel like home.
“We’re looking forwards to developing our community links over the coming months with Christmas and New Year events, and of course also welcoming residents into our new extension that is opening in a few weeks.”
