Port Glasgow Garden Party Raises £430

Bield, one of Scotland’s leading providers of housing and care services, has raised a fantastic £430 at a garden party in Port Glasgow.

Crosshill Gardens retirement housing development raised funds by donating food for hampers that were then raffled off. The funds were then combined with a grant from Bield to buy garden furniture.

The hampers, which featured luxury chocolate, soup and even wine, went to the lucky winners from among the tenants, their families and staff who were in attendance.

Michele McKinnon, retirement housing manager at Crosshill Gardens says: “Everyone always really looks forward to the garden party.

“It’s fantastic to see the tenants take such a big role in putting on a great event and raising a fantastic sum to help improve the development.”

This year’s party was organised with help from all the tenants in fundraising for new garden furniture at the development, while Agnes Boyd and Thomas Patton took the lead in choosing the fittings.

There were plenty of treats on offer for the party with local ice-cream van Gian Mazzoni providing ice cream cones for everyone while cake and Pimms were also on the menu.

Michelle adds: “This year’s Garden Party was another great success, it’s always nice to see the hard work of the tenants and their families’ paying off.

Events like this are a fantastic example of Bield’s ‘Free to Be’ ethos that seeks to let people make their own independent choice as much as possible.
