One of Scotland’s leading providers of housing and care, highlights the important role that volunteers can have in assisting older people to enjoy happy and fulfilled lives in Edinburgh.
Bield is looking for social activity volunteers to encourage tenants to socialise together in Milton Court, its retirement development in Portobello.
Social activity volunteers encourage tenants to socialise together within the development by leading agreed social activities in the communal lounge. They would help to develop a games night once a week – with a choice of anything from the traditional dominoes and board games, to a Nintendo WII.
Tenants would like a games night one night a week on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
Local manager, Linda Mason says, “This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved. Many of our tenants would love to socialise more and with the support of people in the local community we could really make this possible.”
No experience or qualifications are required. Bield is looking for volunteers who have a genuine interest in working with older people, have good communication skills, are reliable and are able to work as part of a team in an unsupervised capacity.
Bield asks for a minimum six-month commitment for this position. Applications are welcome from all people over 16. Full training and support will be given and out-of-pocket expenses paid.
For more information, please contact Linda Mason on 0131-657-4567. An online application form can be found at http://jobs.bield.co.uk/
